"Mexican food. Not Mexican-style food."
The Rivas brothers opened Señor Tequila's on Century Blvd in 2015 with a short menu and a long list of things they refused to shortcut: tortillas pressed each morning, salsas roasted over flame, birria braised until it gives up.
The room is bigger now and the bar is brand new, and the rule has not moved. Germantown made this place its cantina, lotería on Wednesdays, karaoke on Thursdays, mariachi with Sunday dinner, and we still run it as a family. ¡Con mucho gusto!
Still on the floor most nights. One runs the room, one runs the kitchen, both will pull up a chair if you ask about the mezcal.
The brothers opened the doors in 2015 with one idea: cook the food they grew up on, no shortcuts. A decade in, the room has grown, but the kitchen still runs the same way.
Meet the kitchen behind it, on the floor most nights alongside the family.
